Terms of Service

RULES OF THE ACADEMY

  1. Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class

  2. Place shoes nicely near the front door in order facing the wall, duffle bags should be hung up

  3. BOW as you enter and exit the training area (mats)

  4. Do not leave the training area without the instructor’s permission (unless it’s an emergency)

  5. All students should respond to the instructor/coach as “Yes Sir” or “No Sir”

  6. All students must stand at attention quietly when the instructor is teaching/demonstrating.

  7. Keep uniforms neat and clean, and odor free

  8. Your entire uniform must be worn in class including your belt or you don’t train

  9. If your uniform becomes undone, turn away from the flags to fix your uniform and belt

  10. All footwear, except socks are not allowed on the mats, and feet must be clean when entering

  11. All students with long hair must tie their hair up, so it isn’t messy or in the way

  12. DO NOT wear any jewelry in class such as ear rings, necklaces, rings, watches, piercings, etc

  13. Never lean against the walls or the mirrors in the academy

  14. Never lay on the floor before class, during class, or after class

  15. Never lose your temper in the school, use self-control, especially during live sparring sessions

  16. On sparring days for the Karate classes, all gear must be worn for the class

  17. If you need any assistance, seek help from the instructor or go to the office it the door is open

  18. Make sure none of your equipment is left in the academy, be responsible for your things

  19. If you are unable to attend class for an entire week please let the instructor know

  20. No smoking, eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the practice area (on the mats)

  21. Students who attend other martial arts academies shall show respect to their instructors and students, and must get permission before attending other academies.

  22. Students are not allowed to enter tournaments or competitions without Professor Mrotek’s approval.

  23. There is no talking when the instructor is talking, and no interruption.

  24. In absence of the head instructor, an assistant instructor will be in charge of the classes; show them respect and listen to what they have to say

  25. No Swearing in the Academy

  26. There is no unprofessional conversations allowed in the academy

  27. Everybody works together as a team to help each other out. Teamwork is important

  28. All students are expected to get good grades in school to their abilities (meaning if a child is a C student, he is expected to get Cs or better/ nothing below) Family comes first, school comes second, and martial arts is third

  29. NEVER use what is taught in classes except for self-defense or life/death situation

  30. Keep cell phones off during class

  31. Never ask a higher belt to spar (Karate) or roll (Jiu-Jitsu) because its considered disrespectful

  32. Always shake hands and bow before training or sparring with each other

  33. In sparring classes (Karate) and rolling classes (Jiu-Jitsu) remember to use good self-control, light contact, and work with your partner. Sparring/Rolling isn’t a fight or a competition.

  34. Keep finger nails and toe nails trimmed and kept short to avoid injury

  35. Do not enter the instructor’s office unless he is in there or gives you permission to enter

  36. All sparring gear/uniforms/belts are YOUR responsibility, not your parents. Remember that

  37. Essays for Belt Tests must be handed to Professor Mrotek the day of your test for Karate or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It is your responsibility to have it completed the day of your belt test

  38. Be respectful of your parents, listen to what your parents have to say. Part of being a martial artist is to be good at school, at home, and in the community

  39.  In Muay Thai Kickboxing classes SPARRING is LIGHT CONTACT and Controlled. There are no Egos in the Academy and must be left at the door. SPARRING is meant to learn how to use techniques with control in a safe setting

  40. Kids under the age of 18 are not allowed to be hit in the head in Muay Thai Kickboxing. Kids under the age of 18 can be hit in the head in American Karate classes as long as they have headgear on.
